Another layer of support

Therapy and recovery support can work together.

We value the work therapists do. Some men also want structured learning, practical tools to use between appointments, and a consistent community of men working toward change. Recovery Not Sobriety offers that additional support alongside therapy.

Through weekly conversations, workbook exercises, and brotherhood, men practice recognizing emotions, responding to shame, and taking responsibility for their choices. Your clinical care and this everyday practice can complement each other, helping a man find hope and work toward a life where he relies less on pornography for comfort, relief, or escape.

You continue to guide your client’s clinical care. We provide coaching, education, and connection.

Methodology and boundaries

Education, practice, and connection. Recovery Not Sobriety is a nine-week Counterfeit Emotions program that helps men explore the feelings and patterns surrounding pornography use.

Topics such as guilt versus shame and kind versus nice provide a framework for reflection, responsibility, and everyday choices. Weekly discussions, workbook exercises, and brotherhood give participants opportunities to put that learning into practice.

The program’s goal is freedom from relying on pornography for relief or escape. This is a possibility to work toward, not a guaranteed outcome.

We offer coaching and education, not diagnosis, psychotherapy, or crisis care. The program can sit alongside therapy; it does not replace a client’s professional care.

Participant fit

For men ages 18 and older who want to work toward change. The program welcomes men of any faith or no faith. Belief in God is not required. It is for men who want to explore more than avoiding pornography and are willing to reflect, practice, and participate with others.

The format includes weekly cohort meetings, learning between sessions, and an invitation to bring a trusted support person to week two and the celebration. Sessions are recorded so participants can catch up.

Review the format and commitments with your client in light of their goals and care needs. This adult educational program is not treatment for children or teens, or a substitute for urgent or specialist care.

Referral process

Begin with an informed invitation. Review the program’s approach, weekly topics, schedule, and options with your client. Offer it as a choice they can consider alongside the work you are already doing together.

Share the program details and let your client decide whether to explore participation. You can use the free resources to introduce the Counterfeit Emotions framework without an enrollment commitment.

Any exchange of client information would need appropriate client authorization and an agreed process. Begin with general program questions rather than sending clinical records or identifying details.
