Is this for me?
Who is the program for?
The nine-week cohort is for men ages 18 and older who want to move beyond simply avoiding pornography and work toward recovery. You’ll explore the emotions and patterns beneath your behavior, practice new ways to respond, and build connection with other men. Explore the starting points for men →
What does “Recovery Not Sobriety” mean?
Our goal is freedom from the need to turn to pornography for relief or escape. Stopping pornography use matters; our approach also explores what is happening emotionally before the behavior. The name is not permission to continue viewing pornography. It describes a broader goal to work toward, without promising that everyone’s urges will disappear. Understand the approach →
What if I’ve tried to stop before or recently had a setback?
You are welcome to begin again. A setback does not erase your worth or everything you’ve learned. The program invites honesty about your choices, curiosity about the emotions around them, and a practical next step. You can start with the free I Just Relapsed page.
Do I have to believe in God or belong to a religion?
No. Men of any faith or no faith are welcome. God and spiritual connection may be discussed, but belief in God, religious affiliation, or adopting a belief is not required. You can explore the practical tools and ideas in ways that fit your own beliefs and values.
Does this replace therapy?
No. Recovery Not Sobriety offers coaching and education. It provides practical tools, reflection, accountability, and brotherhood; it does not provide diagnosis, psychotherapy, medical treatment, or crisis care. If you’re seeing a therapist, discuss how the program could fit alongside the work you’re doing together.
Who leads the program?
Curtis J. Morley is the founder and facilitator. He brings personal recovery experience, coaching, and a background in leadership to this work. Curtis is a coach and educator, not a licensed therapist. Meet Curtis and read the story behind the program →
Inside the classes
How long is the program?
There are nine weekly teaching sessions, followed by a separate celebration evening. The celebration recognizes growth and invites your support person or spouse back; it does not introduce another week of new teaching.
What happens in a weekly class?
You meet with a consistent group of men to explore that week’s Counterfeit Emotions topic through teaching, conversation, and practical exercises. The group provides a place to learn together, reflect honestly, and encourage one another as each man takes responsibility for his own work.
What topics will we cover each week?
- Welcome & Commitments
- Recovery vs. Sobriety (with your support person invited)
- Guilt vs. Shame
- Pain vs. Misery
- Love vs. Lust
- Disclosure
- Kind vs. Nice
- Excellence vs. Perfectionism
- Joy vs. Pleasure
A celebration follows the nine teaching weeks. See the short weekly overviews →
What is a Counterfeit Emotions dyad?
A dyad is a pair of ideas the program explores together. Guilt versus shame, for example, invites responsibility for a choice without making that choice a verdict on your worth. Kind versus nice explores caring for people while staying honest about needs and boundaries. These pairs give us a starting point for reflection and practice.
Is there work between classes?
Yes. A guided workbook, daily lessons, and practical exercises help you bring the weekly ideas into everyday life. The program involves reflection and practice between meetings. A fixed daily time commitment has not been specified.
What is included in the nine-week program?
Your program includes nine weekly cohort meetings, the celebration evening, a guided workbook, daily lessons, mobile access to the course and tools, practical exercises, support for accountability, and one individual non-clinical coaching session by phone or video call. Brotherhood is central: you learn and practice alongside a consistent group of men. See what’s included →
What if I miss a class?
If you miss a session, that’s okay. All sessions are recorded, so you can watch when you have time, catch up on the material, and stay on track with your cohort.
Dates, attendance & support
Can I attend online or in person?
You can join online or attend in person in Lehi, Utah. Online participation is an option for people outside Utah, including other countries. Check the Utah meeting time against your local time before choosing a cohort.
Where can I find the next cohort dates?
The schedule and practical details section lists the upcoming Tuesday and Thursday cohorts, the nine teaching dates, and the celebration evenings. Choose the weekly evening that fits your schedule. The listed cohorts meet every week with no weeks off.
What time do classes meet, and how long is each session?
The currently planned cohorts meet from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m. Mountain Time, using Utah’s local time. Celebration evenings use the same time. Utah follows daylight saving changes, so check your local time if you attend from another time zone. Review the schedule →
Can my spouse or another support person join me?
A trusted support person is invited to week two, Recovery vs. Sobriety, and your support person or spouse is invited back for the celebration. This can be someone you trust; it does not have to be a spouse. Their role is support, while responsibility for recovery remains with you.
We also encourage men to sit down with their spouse or support person once a week and teach them a little of what they are learning. These conversations can help the support person understand the ideas and how to offer support.
Cost & individual coaching
How much does the program cost?
The nine-week cohort is $2,200 USD. Program + Coaching is $4,200 USD and includes the cohort plus three months of weekly individual coaching by phone or video call. The cohort itself includes one individual coaching session by phone or video call. Compare the two program options →
What does Program + Coaching add?
You receive three months of weekly one-on-one coaching by phone or video call, with each session lasting up to an hour. In-person coaching appointments are not offered. It offers a more personal exploration of each Counterfeit Emotions dyad and how the material relates to your experiences, questions, and next steps. These sessions are coaching and education, not therapy. Explore Program + Coaching →
Do I have to use the coaching during the cohort?
No. You can choose to use the three months of coaching before, during, or after your cohort, depending on where you need support. See how the timing works →
How are one-on-one coaching sessions scheduled?
When you’re ready to begin using your coaching package, a recurring weekly meeting time will be arranged with you. Each phone or video call can last up to one hour. Specific appointment availability will need to be confirmed when scheduling.
Are payment plans or refunds available?
Yes. Payment plans are available for both the nine-week program and Program + Coaching, giving you the option to spread out payments. Review your payment schedule and full terms before enrolling.
Cancellation and refund terms still need to be confirmed for this website. Review the current options on the enrollment page.
For partners, parents & professionals
Is there support for wives, partners, or women?
Yes. Wives & Partners includes a free partner guide, conversation starters, and support around curiosity and boundaries. The separate nine-week women’s course explores the dyads from a woman’s perspective. Enrollment is available on the wives’ page; the meeting schedule remains tentative.
Do you offer a self-paced class on boundaries?
The five-day Nice vs. Kind self-paced course explores kindness, people-pleasing, and boundaries. It is a separate Counterfeit Emotions course, listed at $49 USD, with its own course and checkout page. Partners and parents can explore it for their own learning.
Is the men’s program suitable for my teenage son?
The men’s cohort is for ages 18 and older. The Parents page offers conversation guidance, a downloadable guide, and ideas for age-appropriate next steps. It is a starting point for supporting your child; it does not enroll children or teens in the adult program.
Can a therapist or faith leader use these resources?
Yes. There is a Professional Program Overview for discussing the program with adult clients, and a Faith Leader’s Toolkit that leaders of different faiths can adapt. These resources support an informed invitation and appropriate boundaries; they do not transfer responsibility for recovery to a professional, leader, or spouse.
Resources & your next step
Can I explore the approach before paying for a class?
Yes. Start with Resources, take the seven-question reflection quiz, or visit Learn for articles and video conversations. You can explore these resources without enrolling in the program.
Do I have to give my email to see my quiz results?
No. Results appear immediately on the page without an email signup. The quiz is a reflection tool, not a diagnosis. Its answers stay in that page’s memory and are not submitted or saved between visits. The optional email invitation lets you request practical resources separately; your quiz answers are not sent.
What can I do right now after a setback?
The I Just Relapsed page offers a pause-and-reconnect exercise, four reflection questions, and a choice of one next step. It pairs respect for your worth with honesty and responsibility for what happened.

What should I know about group recordings and privacy?
