Pornography recovery

Sobriety. The old metric is how long.Recovery.The new metric is how deep.

Learn how to overcome instead of count days.

Stopping the behavior matters in the short term, but removing the need for the behavior creates lasting freedom and peace.

Three myths about recovery

Old beliefs can keep you stuck.Let’s challenge them.

A person beside a crossed-out label, representing an identity beyond behavior.

Myth

“Once an addict, always an addict.”

You are not defined by your behavior. You may see pornography as the addiction, but we believe shame is what keeps men trapped in the cycle. In our program, there are no labels. We help you recognize and work through the shame beneath the behavior, moving toward a life in recovery. We believe you can overcome shame and build a life you love being present for.

A calendar with crossed-off days beside a growing plant, representing recovery beyond counting days.

Myth

“If I stay sober long enough, it’ll all go away.”

Sobriety is an important step, but time alone doesn’t resolve the emotions and patterns behind the behavior. Recovery means doing the deeper work: facing what hurts, making peace with your past, and learning new ways to respond. Our program helps you put that work into practice—so progress means more than another day on the calendar.

A tangled line opening into a clear path, representing working through what drives the behavior.

Myth

“I just need more willpower.”

Willpower alone doesn’t address the loneliness, shame, stress, or emotional pain that can drive pornography use. Understanding those feelings is a step toward recovery, not a sign of weakness. The Counterfeit Emotions Program helps you work through the needs beneath the behavior and practice healthier ways to respond—so change goes deeper than resisting an urge.

Does this feel familiar?

You may recognize one of these thoughts. You may recognize several. There’s room to begin wherever you are.

A man in a light blue shirt sits by a window, looking outside with his hand resting near his chin.

I keep promising myself this is the last time.

I mean it when I say it. Going back to pornography leaves me disappointed and tired of starting over.

I’m afraid of how people would see me.

I want to be honest, but I worry about being judged or hurting someone I love.

I make progress. Then I feel back at the beginning.

A setback can make it hard to see the effort I’ve already put in.

Sometimes, I just want a break from how I feel.

When I’m stressed, lonely, or overwhelmed, I reach for relief, even when it isn’t what I want for myself.

I feel alone with this.

Even around people who care about me, there’s a part of my life I don’t know how to share.

I want to trust myself again.

I want my choices to reflect what matters to me, and to feel more present in my life and relationships.

You deserve to be heard and treated with respect. Start with understanding what’s happening, and explore one next step.

The Counterfeit Emotions approach

Understand. Grow.
Practice. Connect.

You want to stop looking at pornography and feel more present in your life. Our coaching and education approach invites you to explore what’s behind your patterns and practice choices that reflect what matters to you.

Discover how shame can keep you caught in repeating cycles—and how to begin breaking free.

  1. Understand

    Look beneath the pattern.

Discover how shame can keep you caught in the cycle—and recognize what’s happening beneath the urge. Explore what you may be seeking when you turn to pornography: relief, comfort, escape, or connection. Begin noticing what’s happening before the urge.

  2. Grow

Build a different relationship with yourself.

Learn to separate your worth from your behavior, replacing self-judgment with honesty, responsibility, and compassion. Learn to recognize what you’re feeling and what matters to you. Practice taking responsibility for your choices while treating yourself with honesty and respect.

  3. Practice

    Bring it into everyday life.

Practice responding to shame and difficult emotions without turning to pornography for escape. Explore practical ways to respond to stress, loneliness, and difficult moments. Put what you’re learning into action, one choice at a time.

  4. Connect

    Make room for real connection.

Break the silence around shame by sharing honestly with people you trust and learning to receive support. Practice asking for support and being more present with people you trust. Explore the relationships, values, and sources of meaning you want to build your life around.
